If it's not already obvious to most, the way to get people to come to a website is to have it show up near the top of a search engine result. Numero Uno on that list for quite some time is Google. There are various tips and tricks to get a site to appear higher on the list, but the most effective one is having a large amount of relevant content. This site didn't exist a little over a week ago, but we showed up in the index only a day or two after coming online. Late last week we were on Page 6 of search results for "CRF250L forum", and today we're up to the top of Page 4. It will take awhile, but once we get to Page 2, or even the first page, visits tend to grow very quickly, along with the content and users that then can keep a site there. Onward and upward...
That's great news! Looking forward to some useful and entertaining traffic and content growing quickly!
Yeah, we need more members to sign up and contribute. More ideas, different experiences. That's what it's all about!
Anyway we can boost the ratings? I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to utilize a tool like tor and a script that would make a machine revisit or search for a page shitloads of times.
We're fluctuating between #2 & #3 on the net, so there isn't much headroom to improve from here. The next step is just to keep adding relevant content here, so that when people search for specific things about this bike, we pop up first. I'm really happy with how well the google piece has gone so far here.
