I'm currently running 13/40 sprockets but am about to change to 13/44. Any suggestions on best type of chain? I'm thinking DID #520 X ring but am open to suggestions. I do mostly beach/dune and trail riding. Thanks guys. Mark.

Can't go wrong with a DID.

    I'd agree with that...

I've just put on an 'X' ring one from 24MX, great price and nice chain.

I used DID and it was a great chain on my Ducati (Almost 13,000 miles on the chain!). On my CRF I'm using an RK chain. Only a few hundred miles but so far no problems.

Thanks Thomas, I'll look into it! What is the preference in your opinion; o ring or x ring?

Honestly I don't have enough experience to tell a difference. The x-ring tech seems cool, but is it a gimmick? I don't know. Probably not a gimmick. However, I think the mileage I got on the DID chain (With proper maintenance, regular lube, etc) speaks for itself. I expect to also get great mileage out of the RK chain, but only time will tell how long it lasts.

Hey, doesn't a DID chain come on the CRFL from the factory?

x-ring is just a slightly different type of o-ring; the differences are more marketing. It's not nearly the difference as deciding to go with a non-o-ring chain vs o-ring.
