I have done my first 500 km (300 miles) on my bike and decided to change the oil. 1000 km on break in oil is to much if you ask me.
I could not find any 10w-30 as specified by Honda and now my engine is filled with 10w-40 instead.
I am no oil guru and my question is: should I spend more time finding the correct oil and change again or is it ok to use 10w-40?

It will be fine especially with the warmer weather not far away.
10W-40 was always the default until recently they started saying 10W-30, it's the same with Honda Quads I work with every day.
The second number is a reference to how well the oil behaves at higher temperatures so the 10-40 covers a wider range, that's all.
