I park my CRFL in my back yard under a cover. During the winter the ground is frozen/hard so the sidestand doesn't sink. But its spring and I moved the bike to a new place in the yard without putting something under the foot of the sidestand and it fell over. Good news....no damage...none at all. Im waiting till tomorrow to start it in case oil is in the combustion chamber.
Oops! I learned a while back to always carry a kickstand plate or find a flat rock or something for when I'm parking in "marginal" situations. The foot on the stock kickstand just isn't big enough for my liking.
