Qatar MotoGP Sunday Subscriber Notes: Part 1 - The Power Of Adversity, And More Tire Troubles

It's been a long season, and we are in the middle of the final stretch. So just a few preliminary thoughts tonight, with more to come over the next couple of days. Because the 2023 MotoGP championship race continues to be an absolute rollercoaster. And in all likelihood, it will continue to swing wildly back and forth between Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin all the way until Sunday afternoon at Valencia. Which is just under a week away. Seven days to change the future.

But first, we really need to talk about a young man who has been trying to change his future in the last few races. After the first 14 races of 2023, Fabio Di Giannantonio had scraped together a relatively meager total of 53 points, which left him down in 16th in the championship.

After Motegi, the Gresini Ducati rider started to turn his season around. In Indonesia, he finished fourth in the GP, and came very close to a first podium. That came a week later, at Phillip Island. His fortunes flagged in Thailand and Malaysia, with a pair of ninth places. But in Qatar, he forced a breakthrough, with a second place in the sprint race and victory in the race on Sunday.
